Rebecca Brown

BSW, MSW, RSW

 is a Registered Social Worker with a career spanning 30 years within the medical, childhood trauma and family violence sectors. She was a provincial trainer and Coordinator of the Critical Incident Debriefing Team. Rebecca is a Certified Health & Wellness Coach and incorporates Lifestyle Medicine into her private practice.  She is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Family Medicine, Western University and an Associate with the TEND Academy delivering workshops and conferences throughout North America on the topics of PTSD, Vicarious Trauma, Compassion Fatigue and Resilience.  Rebecca is honoured to be working with the team at Elgin Equine Assisted Therapy combining her professional and personal interests to promote healing through horses.

Julie Claus

EAGALA Certified Equine Specialist

Prior to becoming an EAGALA certified Equine Specialist, Julie has been a Equine Canada Certified Hunter/Jumper Coach since 1991.  She owns and operates HSE Stables in St. Thomas with her family where she teaches riding lessons, as well as trains horses and riders for competition at the provincial level.

As an Equine Specialist, Julie creates the horse- assisted activities to help meet treatment goals. She focusses on observing horse behaviour and safety during sessions.

Wendy Coombs


is a Registered Social Worker, Certified Trauma Specialist, and Certified in Addictions. Wendy has worked in a variety of clinical settings with children, youth, adults, families and couples for 20 years. In addition to being the Clinical Supervisor of our agency, Wendy is a professor at Fanshawe College, and offers Trauma Debriefing Services to businesses, agencies and systems across Southwestern Ontario.
